Sylvie Meis was treated for breast cancer in 2009. She said that the chemotherapy was preventive, but this treatment had a completely different reason.
In the context of October breast cancer month, she was interviewed by the German Bild. In it she said that she had said at the time that the chemotherapy was preventive, but in reality she had to undergo this treatment because her breast cancer had spread to her lymph nodes.

“I was afraid of being written off, but at one point had to disclose my illness. I mentioned that the chemotherapy was preventive, but kept silent about the fact that the cancer had already spread. I was afraid of the headlines and didn't want people to think:Sylvie is going to die.”
At the time, the presenter felt uneasy when she got a stab in her chest, while she stretched to clean up something. She immediately had the feeling that something was not right and had herself checked.
Sylvie is now cancer-free, but she still takes medication and is checked every six months. “You always have to be alert that the cancer can come back. That is why regular checks are important.”
