Is it wise to empty your fridge and freezer after a power failure or can you store the food a little longer?
If the freezer has failed, products will remain frozen for approximately 24 hours. As long as products are frozen, you can store them. So check whether the products are indeed still properly frozen.

It is a little more difficult to say whether you should throw away products from the refrigerator. You can store them as long as the products have not become warmer than 7 degrees. If the products have become warmer, it may be wise to throw them away. If the temperature has risen above 15 degrees, you should throw away all perishable products from the refrigerator.
Hint: if you have a thermometer, you can check the fridge temperature that way.
