Children between the ages of 4 and 8 are already on their sugar max day today, July 9. But what is that and do other age groups also have such a sugar max day?
The sugar max day is a day created by food watchdog Foodwatch. It's the day that you already have the maximum amount of sugars recommended by the World Health Organization for a whole year.
It now appears that children between the ages of 4 and 8 are already at their maximum sugar intake. Children in this age group consume relatively the most sugars, such as drinks and sweets. And so they are also at their maximum earlier in the year. According to figures from the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), this age group eats more than 31 kilos of sugar per year.
