Is it always a sign that you are hungry?
Often it is your gut that you hear
A rumbling stomach is not always a sign that you are hungry. The sound often does not even originate in your stomach, but in your intestines. Your intestines and digestion are at work; food and gases are moved and that causes the grunting sound. That explains why your stomach can growl even after you eat; your gut is hard at work.
But your stomach can also make noise Your stomach kneads your food and mixes it with gastric juices, making it easier to digest when it reaches your gut. When there is no food left in your stomach, your stomach continues to be busy, only then it is only gases that are kneaded. That makes a rumbling sound. As soon as you eat, food enters your stomach and that makes less noise when it is kneaded.
