No one consciously loses weight with the aim of gaining weight again. Yet many people are familiar with yo-yoing. After you lose weight, the weight will be back on in no time. Sometimes with an extra kilo.
Several studies have shown that yo-yoing is not good. According to Professor Tim Spector of King's College London, yo-yoing can make you heavier in the long run than someone who hasn't been on a diet. Another study found that their gut flora got confused after a yo-yo diet, causing the body to get confused.
A study that sheds light on the other side
A controversial study now claims that yo-yoing isn't that bad, compared to not dieting at all if you're overweight. Small note:it was tested in mice. Those who yo-yoed lived longer than overweight mice. The researcher compares it to plaque:if the dentist removes plaque and it comes back at the next check-up, that's okay.
It may sound a bit debatable. What do you think?
