As an adult, you don't grow out of an allergy, but maybe that will change soon. The peanut patch is currently being tested at the UMC in Utrecht.
What is a peanut patch?
The peanut patch is a patch on which peanut extract is applied. Every day you put such a plaster on your upper arm. Your skin comes into contact with the peanut extract, allowing you to get used to it slowly. The expectation is that your body no longer sees peanuts as an unwanted intruder and that the allergic reaction decreases or disappears.
On the market in 2020 at the earliest
The patch is currently undergoing full testing. If the results are positive, it will hit the market in 2020 at the earliest. The first results seem positive so far. After about a year with the patch, the complaints of many participants seem to have eased.
