Vitamin D against menstrual pain

Suffering from painful periods? A good dose of vitamin D can help. This is shown by research from the University of Messina in Italy.

According to the researchers, vitamin D increase comfort and avoid the use of painkillers † The research team compared the use of vitamin D supplements with placebo pills in 40 women between the ages of 18 and 40. All women had dysmenorrhea (a painful period). In addition to the pain, the women often also suffered from sleeping problems, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea

The experiment went as follows:the women took a pill once, five days before the start of their cycle. What turned out? The Italian researchers saw reductions in pain in the vitamin D group during the two months of the study. In addition, the women who took vitamin D also took noticeably less to painkillers.
