Everyone suffers from it from time to time:a stiff neck. Four ways to get rid of it.
Option 1:heating
When do you choose to warm your stiff neck?
If the neck feels stiff and tense. 'Heat is always effective', says physiotherapist Jacqueline Huybers. 'The heat makes your blood vessels dilate. This improves blood circulation in your body and makes your muscles relax faster, which relieves the pain.' So make sure that the stiff neck stays warm.
How do you warm your stiff neck?
Warm the neck as much as possible, advises Huybers, and preferably for a period of eight hours. 'Choose heat packs such as a bean bag, hot pack, jug or warm cloth. You can also take a nice warm shower or treat the painful area with infrared light. And wear a scarf both outside and inside.'
