Green tea can slightly lower bad cholesterol, according to research from the Western University of Health Sciences in the American city of Pomona.
For the study, adults were given green tea, green tea capsules, or placebos (fake) administered. Subjects who drank green tea or took the capsules, there were five to six points less bad cholesterol than subjects who received placebos. Green tea in a cup was even slightly more effective than in a capsule.

The Americans conducted twenty studies among 1415 adults and confirmed the results from a previous Chinese study. The research is published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association †
