Drinking tea can prevent weight gain as a result of a high-fat diet, which was discovered after medical research on mice, by, among others, Professor Carrie Ruxton.

Some of the animals followed a high-fat diet for the study, others had a normal eating pattern. Both groups were further divided into smaller units, they were each given water, black or green tea for 14 weeks. †
They found that both types of tea limited weight gain, as well as lowered the accumulation of belly fat associated with an unhealthy diet † Black tea also had the damaging effects on the blood, an increase in cholesterol , a high blood glucose and insulin resistance.
