Last Saturday, the VU medical center helped a large group of young doctors in the white coat for the second time. With this, VUmc was the first in the Netherlands to make a clear distinction between the more theoretical and practical part of the medicine programme.
During the impressive ceremony – officially from the United States – a group of nearly 200 students were presented with the jacket and were symbolically hoisted into their new office †
The aim of the ceremony is that more insight into and awareness of being a doctor to both the student and the trainer.
During the ceremony, the students also spoke a year text from:how they want to function as a doctor, what responsibilities, ideals and obligations they attach to their profession and how they wish to propagate these.
