The Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (VWA) warns against fake medicines against the Mexican flu. The reason is an advertisement on Marktplaats in which colloidal silver water was offered to prevent the flu.
Water with small silver particles has been sold for some time as a food supplement. It would increase resistance. But to attribute a medicinal effect to it, the VWA goes too far.
“Foods should not have a medicinal claim without extensive scientific evidence," said a spokesman. After a quick scan carried out by the VWA in response to the advertisement, the medicinal effect of the silver water turned out to be unfounded.
“If people cures for the flu If you want to purchase, it is best to do so through the regular channels, such as the pharmacy”, advises the VWA.
