Men and their football. In fact, it's 22 drama queens who take over 90 minutes (or with a bit of luck even longer) and a referee. It's understandable that many women don't like it much. But now that women's football is on the rise in the Netherlands, the time has come as a woman to reconsider your disinterest in football. We give four reasons why women's football is more fun than men's football and you should definitely encourage our Orange Lionesses at the European Championship 2022.
Women are the weaker sex? It doesn't show otherwise on the football field! Compare a match in women's football with a match in men's football. Who makes the most theater when fouled? Exactly:the men! In fact, they themselves stay on the ground for an average of thirty seconds longer. It is really not the case that they are in more pain than a woman in the same situation.
Wasting thirty seconds on affectation is just the tip of the iceberg. Men also take an average of twice as long to celebrate a goal and an average of ten seconds longer to leave the field when substituted. That time is really not all made up one on one. As a result, in women's football you have more pure playing time, or in other words:more football in the same time. So value for money.
Unfortunately, overpaid male professional footballers often revolve around personal honor and egos. Testosterone certainly plays a role in this. For men, unfortunately, too often it is too little about the team and too often about the player himself. Compare that, for example, with the Orange Lionesses, where it is all about pure team spirit. Even the top players who play at the biggest clubs do not find it necessary to behave like stars.
Have you ever watched interviews with male soccer players? Then you may have noticed that only the youngsters are still enthusiastically in front of the camera. The rest are indoctrinated to the bone with media training, are uninterested or simply have nothing to say. Compare that to the enthusiasm with which female football players appear in front of the camera. You also feel the appreciation for the attention for their sport, which is considerably more fun to watch and listen to.
All the more reason to sit in front of the television this summer to encourage the Orange Lionesses and to enjoy women passionately practicing their sport. That is often a lot more fun than an evening watching egos and posers in the Champions League.
