We eat 400 million citizens a year here in the Netherlands! And I sometimes participate in that too, but not as eagerly as a lot of others 😉 . What I was eager for was the invitation I received from Kapitein Iglo (yes really!), to come and taste the new fish burger. I have been a vegetarian for a long time and then my only alternative - you guessed it - was the fish burger.
Despite the fact that I've eaten a lot of fish burgers in my life, I'm still not tired of them. If my kids want to go to the 'Big M' for a snack, I'll have a fish burger -while the Man chooses the largest meat burger here. For the tasty, but also because it makes me feel good to eat less meat. And the fish burger is a great alternative.
Anyway, on to Amsterdam for a trip through the canals as part of a #bouwjeburgeranders moment. Son really looks like his father's child. He chose a barbeque with friends over a trip with the family and so the three of us had to do it. Not a big deal, because it also means a hassle-free afternoon 😉 . Daughter and Son together guarantees discussion.

The Dutch Captain Iglo has been on board for one year now. In honor of this and to celebrate that the new Iglo Fish and Veggie Burgers are available, he took to the Amsterdam canals. To hand out and taste!
We all know that eating too much meat is not good at all. Not for us, and not for the environment. A fish burger is therefore an excellent alternative to the hamburger. Especially if you can add some variation to this, Iglo must have thought 😉 . The new Iglo Fishburger is a Hot &Spicy variant and MSC certified. And I got that on my plate!
Not at all as Hot &Spicy as I thought, so it is certainly suitable for children. If you don't want any meat or fish on your plate at all, then the Veggie burger is definitely worth it, according to the Man, who is actually a huge meat eater.
And then the topping… the table on the boat is full of dishes with tasty toppings. From salad to avocado and from a cucumber sauce to tomato. Are you also always of the standard choices? I'm a bit bothered by that myself. What I know and like, I repeat the next time I eat that dish. While it can certainly be so nice to try something different. For example, I never thought that a fish burger would taste with avocado, but I put it to the test anyway. And I can tell you that it was very enjoyable. So you can see that variety can lead to excellent results!
If you are looking for some inspiration for a tasty fish burger, take a look at the recipes here, there is really a lot of goodies!
If you have children at home who are quite difficult to eat vegetables (which child doesn't 😛) then the Veggie Burger is a very good alternative. Doesn't taste like a serving of broccoli and certainly doesn't look like it. Rather a lot more attractive and that of course works like crazy with our kids. If it looks like a burger, then of course it also tastes a lot better than a dollop of vegetables on your plate.
Yet the Veggie Burger is full of broccoli, carrot and corn. Do they already have a portion of vitamins in.
There are 3 types of burgers available for the enthusiast. Iglo Fish Burgers Classic, Iglo Fish Burgers Hot &Spicy or the Iglo Veggie Burgers. For a little more than 2 euros per 2 pieces you can just get these delicious crispy burgers at the supermarket, nice and handy. Or at Iglo online, then Captain Iglo also has something to do!
You throw them frozen in the pan on a medium heat for 13 minutes or half an hour in the oven at 200°. I bet that they also taste excellent from the Airfryer - just like the regular fish fingers - but I'll have to test that for you soon. I will of course let you know!
In recent years I have noticed that I have become more conscious about my food. After being a vegetarian for years (but a lover of a piece of meat on my plate) I started eating meat again after being seriously ill once. With the idea that I might be lacking something, my meals have slowly changed again. Now I am - after a number of years eating meat again - switching back again. And that suits me well.
You've probably feasted on meat for an evening. With a BBQ for example. That always bothers me, don't you? Too much meat is simply indigestible. A fish or some extra vegetables are an excellent alternative. Of course for the Omega 3 that you find in the fish and the vitamins in the vegetables, but also simply because they take care of your body better and you feel fitter than with just eating meat.
