The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) warns against tea and dietary supplements containing St. John's wort. They can be harmful to health.
The RIVM especially warns against the combination of St. John's wort and certain medicines. “For example, it reduces the effect of chemotherapy or drugs against fungal or viral infections.”
But it can also enhance the effect of certain medications, such as antidepressants or tranquilizers.
