Going to the toilet is very normal for us, but that is not the case for everyone.
Worldwide, 2.5 billion people have no sanitation facilities. Every year 800,000 children die from diarrhea. To draw attention to this issue, today is World Toilet Day. Some facts about our toileting behaviour:
- Women (51%) more often leave the door open during the toilet visit than men (33%).
- 69% of the Dutch take their phone to the toilet.
- In a good relationship, you can talk about anything. More than half of the Dutch (60%) talk openly with their partner about their bowel movements.
- 44% of women say they do everything they can to mask their sounds in the toilet.
- Our biggest annoyances are:skid marks from a predecessor (69%), not flushing (63%) and drops of pee on the toilet seat (58%).
What can you do to support people without sanitation? Page has released a promotional pack, of which €0.25 per pack is donated to help children in Angola with a clean and safe toilet.
