Some people suffer from asthma at night. Very annoying, because the lack of sleep also affects your daily life.
How can it be that those asthma attacks come up at night? When you sleep, your airways are a bit tighter and that can make you more sensitive, causing you to cough at night. In addition, you may be more exposed to allergens, for example because your bedroom is dusty. In winter, when you breathe cold air, it can also trigger asthma attacks. The fact that you are lying down doesn't help. For some people it can provide relief if the head is a little higher. An extra pillow, possibly under the mattress, or raising the head of the bed, can then have a positive effect.
