What effect does your sleeping position have on your health?
According to research published in the Journal of Neuroscience, your sleeping position can affect your health. The study showed that animals that mainly sleep on their right side make more beta-amyloid proteins than animals that sleep on their back or stomach. These are proteins that increase the risk of Alzheimer's disease.
More research is needed to determine whether this is also the case in humans. Certain sleeping positions can, for example, cause back problems. Furthermore, if you are pregnant, it would be better to sleep on your left side, as this improves blood flow to the fetus.
