The photo surfaced on the website Reddit, with the redeeming answer:It's a device used to take X-rays of babies and small children. During such a scan, children are allowed to move as little as possible and this 'tube' ensures that this works as well as possible.
It looks a bit sad, but it is important to be able to make good X-rays in babies, we are happy that this device is helping with that.
