Protect your eyes on winter sports

Are you one of the lucky few who are going on winter sports this spring break? Don't forget to protect your eyes. On a sunny day in the snowy mountains, the UV radiation is 10 times higher than in the Netherlands.

UV radiation overdose Not everyone realizes that UV radiation is not only harmful to the skin, but also to the eyes. An overdose of UV radiation increases the risk of eye disease. Two common eye conditions are cataracts and macular degeneration. Therefore, protect your eyes well when you are on winter sports.

Children's eyes are extra vulnerable, so also invest in good glasses for the children.

Snowblindness
Too much UV radiation can cause snow blindness. With snow blindness, your eyes are as it were burned by the sun. Snow blindness is a form of corneal inflammation in which the eyes turn red and the eyelids swell. The complaints usually disappear after a few days and normally does not cause permanent damage to the eyes.
