On average we give our GP an 8. But if you are not satisfied, everything becomes a lot more difficult. Switching doctors is often difficult and sometimes even impossible.
Changing is sometimes impossible
A survey showed that 1,100 people wanted to switch to another GP last year. Only one third succeeded. The others who wanted to switch ran into all kinds of problems. The current GP must give permission, the desired GP no longer accepts patients, the switch lives in a different postcode area or GPs in the same municipality do not take over patients from each other.
Several reasons to switch
Half of the people who want to switch do so because they are dissatisfied. 35 percent switch because he or she does not trust the doctor. A slightly smaller group switches because they do not agree with the GP. Just over 10 percent are switching in connection with a move.
