3-year-old Rylee escaped blindness thanks to a photo her mother posted on Facebook.
Suspicious shine
Like many proud mothers, Tara Taylor posted a photo of her daughter on Facebook. Two of her friends reacted to the photo:they thought the glow over Rylee's left eye was suspicious, although it could also be caused by the lighting from the flash, and advised Taylor to see a doctor.
Eye disease
Rylee was referred to an ophthalmologist and was found to have Coats' disease, an eye condition where it is important to diagnose quickly. The disease can eventually lead to blindness. With Rylee, it didn't get that far thanks to Facebook. Mother Tara can breathe a sigh of relief and is eternally grateful to her Facebook friends.
