Being shivering in the cold can make your body healthier. How?
White fat and brown fat
Shivering stimulates brown fat. White fat stores energy, while brown fat uses energy. Adults with more brown fat are on average slimmer. It was already known that exercise helps to convert white fat into brown fat.
New insight
Still, you don't necessarily have to move. Missing the train and shivering on a cold platform for 15 minutes is also effective. Research has shown that shivering from the cold for 15 minutes also ensures that white fat is converted into brown fat.
