Are you occasionally fed up with the long commute to work by public transport? Then this news may cheer you up:commuting to work is good for your condition.
This is according to research by a British fitness chain. They found that commuters burn an average of 163 calories per way, or 324 calories per day.
Step in the right direction
The number of calories is equivalent to two twenty-minute sessions on the treadmill, or the number of calories in two chocolate chip cookies. So that's a nice bonus! The researchers are happy with the result. 'Sometimes we don't have enough time to exercise. This research shows that even the smallest things we do are a step in the right direction.”
Average ride
In England, the average journey to work takes 28.46 minutes. During the ride, commuters stand upright for 9.62 minutes, climb 16 stairs and walk for 11.33 minutes. So just sprint to the train.
