People who have the heating on high at home are less likely to be overweight than people who keep their house cool.
It was assumed that a warm home would contribute to obesity. The University of Stirling examined the data of 100,000 British adults to test this and found the opposite.
How is it possible that people living in a warm house are generally thinner?
The researchers do have an idea:our appetite would decrease at temperatures above 23 degrees. At the same time, we use more energy, because our body has to make more effort to maintain a constant temperature.
Ideal temperature
The best temperature for a house is between 20.3 and 23 degrees Celsius. To save energy costs and help the environment, you can also just wear a thick sweater at home.
