Almost half of all Dutch holidaymakers who have been to Turkey, Egypt, Morocco or Croatia in the past year have not been vaccinated. This is apparent from research by TNS NIPO, carried out on behalf of Gezond Op Reis.
The reason for not getting vaccinated is that many travelers the necessity do not see it, they find the costs too high. Moreover, four out of ten Dutch people do not know whether their health insurer reimburses vaccinations †
The survey shows that 73 percent of travelers who go to Egypt do get vaccinated † Also, 62 percent of holidaymakers who go to Morocco have vaccination † These figures are significantly lower for Turkey (54 percent) and Croatia (39 percent).
Often compensation
A third of holidaymakers who do get vaccinated opt for a combination of hepatitis A and B † Travelers who have a supplementary insurance have taken out, are in most cases eligible for full or partial reimbursement of the costs of needed traveler vaccinations †
