Scientists from the University Medical Center Groningen have discovered a gene that plays a role in how old we can live. After all, the age at which we die is partly genetically determined. “For the first time, we have found convincing evidence,” says one of the scientists.
The UMC Groningen made the discovery together with English colleagues from the University of Leicester and King's College London. They will publish the complete results in the scientific journal Nature Genetics †
The researcher:“This genetic variant partly explains why people in some families all live much older than in others.”
