Making your own liniment is economical, but above all it's better for baby's skin. In the nursery where I work, we make it ourselves and the results are there. I explain to you...
What is Liniment?
It is a mixture of olive oil and lime water, which can be used to clean the baby seat. Thanks to the olive oil, it remains very moisturizing and personally, working in a nursery, I have rarely noticed diaper rash in children treated with liniment.
Thanks to lime water (compound used for making homemade soaps) it removes all traces of urine or stool.
It allows you to abandon the use of cleaning wipes, very polluting for the planet and irritating in some children , but also, to make substantial financial savings .
How to proceed?
Get a small bottle dishwashing liquid that closes easily and allows you not to make large quantities because, without preservatives, you can keep it 3 months only .
You just need to mix 50% olive oil and 50% lime water or, 60% olive oil and 40% lime water; and voila!
Where to Find Lime Water?
We buy it on Amazon at €3.90 for 500 ml (link) and have it delivered to the crèche. It's cheaper and more convenient . For a busy mum, I recommend doing the same rather than shopping...
The Many Uses of Homemade Liniment
Simply with a cotton square, you canapply it directly on the area to be cleaned. It is also possible to use it for massages out of the bath. In case of infant acne it is quite effective, or during pregnancy, on stretch marks.
Moms, you can also use it for your make-up removal !
It is not necessary to buy very good quality olive oil and lime water can be found in pharmacies or organic stores. Easy, economical and perfect for hydration baby!
I know there are a multitude of uses for liniment, please let me know how you use it. If you have any questions, ask me in the comments.
With my trick, my liniment costs me around €3.97 for 500 ml, while it is sold in the general trade on average at €6, depending on which one you choose.
So I earn €2.03 per 500ml bottle. I estimate my consumption at 6 bottles per year, i.e. an annual saving of €12.08 .
