I tested for you Self'Coiff, low hair salons cost.
Here is the story of my experience as a client at a cheap hairdresser.
I chose the formula:Shampoo + color + Self brush at 19 € in the Self'Coiff salon in Brest.
Like many of my friends, my hairdressers and I are a little angry.
I've stopped counting the number of times I've left a "hairdressing" salon badly dressed or even worse, completely missed and disappointed.
So I tend to do everything myself. At least that way, if I have to blame someone, it's me.
So, with such a background, when I was offered to test the Self'Coiff Salons, I said to myself:Why not?
After all, doing your care under the watchful eye of the hairdresser is always better than doing it alone, in contortion mode in front of your mirror. Let me explain...
Self'Coiff it is a new concept of hair salon. To reduce the bill, these salons offer their customers the possibility of carrying out certain operations themselves that were once reserved for the hairdresser!
No appointment , we come when it takes us. (I have to say that it suits me rather well, I'm the type to have a sudden urge to change my mind!)
The Self'Vest: We arrive, drop off our own belongings in the cloakroom. No apprentice confined to the café, with the Self'Bar , it is we who prepare our drink. The Self'Book also, we are the bosses, we chose by leafing through the books ourselves, our new look! There is the Self'kid option where mums shampoo their children themselves, to save a few extra euros on the bill.
And above allSelf Brush . We do our own brushing to reduce costs and only pay for the cut and/or the color!
When I arrive, I discover a very seventies salon, with flashy and sparkling colors.
They welcome me warmly and explain the concept to me, then the formulas:from the classic shampoo + cut + Self'Brush, to shampoo + cut + scan + Self'Brush. All formulas, here.
Self’Vest: I put my bag, my coat in the locker room, put on my blouse.
Self'Book: I am provided with brochures with the cuts and trends of the moment. No cut for me, just one color. So I chose the €19 formula:Shampoo + color + Self'brush.
Small disappointment, as I have long hair, I have to add 4 €. It will therefore cost me 23 €. I quibble, I know, especially when you know the price of a color at a traditional hairdresser.
Self’Bar: While waiting for a hairdresser to become available, I go to the Self'Bar where I prepare myself a tea while carefully observing the ball unfolding around me.
To lower your bill, don't hesitate to wet your shirt! There is the mother who washes her son's hair herself, the one who does her hair following the expert advice of the hairdresser.
And above all, I observe the techniques of the hairdressers. Listening, they seem to be comfortable and master modern techniques. Everything takes place in a rather friendly atmosphere.
I pass under the hands of the apprentice, for the shampoo, then I choose the shade for my color. Bluish Black. The hairdresser applies the color to me while explaining to me how to do it, how to do it best at home. Pose, rinse.
Self'Brush: Then comes the moment of drying and styling. Under the watchful eye of the hairdresser and guided by her advice, I do my brushing myself. I learn very simple techniques that I did not even suspect. It made me feel like I was a bit in training.
I walked out with gorgeous raven black hair, beautifully tamed by me, and very proud of it!
With my head full of tips and tricks to be able to reproduce the same hairstyle at home, I would have spent just over 2 hours.
Well, I must admit that I must have forgotten half of these tips...
The bill therefore amounts to €23 for a shampoo + color + Self'Brush. I'm leaving for the first time in a long time from a hairdresser, satisfied with the result. The old adage:"you are never better served than by yourself" is therefore verified and approved!
If a Self'Coiff salon opens near my home, I'd be happy to go back. For the moment, there are none everywhere in France.
What do you think of this low cost hairdresser formula? Have you ever had the opportunity to test the Self'Coiff' salons? Do not hesitate to give us your opinion in comments.
I go to the hairdresser about once a quarter. For a shampoo + color + hairstyle formula at a traditional hairdresser, I can easily get it for 40 €.
So for the year, the bill is 160 €.
By going to a Self'Coiff Franchisee, I get by for 23 € (19 € on short hair) That gives me a total of 92 € over one year.
So I realize a saving of €68 per year !
