Every day, the French capital is heavily congested in places. To make it easier for emergency doctors to get around these hard-to-reach areas, several companies have collaborated to develop a new type of special bike:Emergency Bikes or "emergency bikes".
An innovative means of transport facilitating the movement of doctors emergency workers in the capital, such is the project of the Wunderman Thompson agency and the company Ecox, an expert in electric bicycles. From this collaboration were born Emergency Bikes , the test phase of which will begin in September 2020. According to the designers, this is the "first city-proof emergency vehicle" .
As an article in L'ADN reminds us on September 18, 2020, Paris is subject to traffic jams every day over a total of around 200 km. During RER and metro strikes, this total is multiplied by three! On the presentation page of the Emergency Bikes concept, the project directors also point out that a motorist spends about 140 hours a year in traffic jams. And unfortunately, ambulances and other emergency vehicles are no exception.
You should know that the Paris Medical Emergencies make an average of two hundred visits per day . The project therefore aims to enable doctors to move more quickly in hard-to-reach areas. According to the project leaders, the Emergency Bikes will allow professionals to reach their destination twice as quickly as normal. These bikes also benefit from a 500 W power for a autonomy of 160 km . They are also equipped with large anti-puncture tires as well as a GPS tracker allowing real-time location. They also have adequate storage for transporting medical equipment. Bearing the Paris Medical Emergency logo, particularly on the rims, the Emergency Bikes must be visible to everyone. In addition, the concept is the subject of a variation in several types of bikes (cargo, VTC or urban).
If the testing phase is successful, the project should grow further. Indeed, the idea is to eventually offer this service to nurses , carriers of medical equipment, even firefighters! In addition, it is highly possible that we will find these Emergency Bikes in other cities in the country in the future.
Here is a presentation video of this very promising concept:
