In Scotland, your hiking boots are guaranteed to come into their own. From the north to the south and from the east to the west:you will find challenging hiking routes all over the country. A popular walking tour is the West Highland Way. The route is 152 kilometers long and cuts through the Scottish Highlands, walking on old military roads and carriage roads and sometimes coming face to face with Scottish highlanders. The route can be completed in six to ten days. You sleep in local hotels or you take your tent with you. The route ends at the foot of Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain. Energy left? Top off your hike with an ascent to this summit, at 1,345 metres. Also worth a visit:the raw coastlines in the north of the country, Isle of Skye and a walk along the Glenfinnan Viaduct, known from the Harry Potter films.

Costa Rica is the place to go surfing. You will find ideal waves here all year round, for both beginners and advanced players. For example, take a look at the surfing village of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca on the Atlantic Ocean. This village is surrounded by white and black beaches, clear blue water and swaying palm trees. The best beaches for surfing are Playa Negra and Playa Cocles, where you can take lessons at the many surf camps. Are you an experienced surfer? Then a visit to Salsa Brava a little further should not be missed. Here you will find the highest waves in the country. Also nice:directly behind the beaches of Puerto Viejo the jungle starts and you can spot wild animals. Rent a bicycle in the village and follow the impressive cycling route that takes you through the jungle and past secluded beaches.

Andalusia is also known as the mecca for air sports. To the east is the Sierra Nevada, a mountain range that includes sixteen peaks that are higher than 3000 meters. You can paraglide here all year round, usually starting at 1300 meters altitude. Tip:book a session early in the morning or in the evening, at sunset, so that you float through an orange-pink colored decor. Due to the height differences, the region has to deal with different types of climates at the same time. This makes the area perfect not only for paragliding, but also for skiing in the mountains and hiking in the national park.
