There are hundreds of diets and they all tell us exactly how to lose weight. Type the word into Google, walk to the nearest bookstore and they are there:diets in all shapes and sizes.
Online dietician Jonathan Klaassen has a clear opinion about this:do not follow a weight loss diet, because there are catches in the grass. In this article he explains why.
All those hundreds of diets do not take your personal characteristics into account. Body type, body composition, preferences, personal goals and living conditions are not taken into account. You get a diet with a standard daily menu and general guidelines that say nothing about you as a person. A general plan? Yes. A personal plan? Absolutely not!
It's true, all diets have their own starting point and theory. From the outside it even looks like they are all proclaiming a 'magic method', which is different with every diet. By taking few carbohydrates, eating a lot of proteins, or by doing a juice cure, you lose weight. And so the diet works, you might say. However, we are being taken for a ride here, because all those diets have one strong similarity:if you follow them you get very few calories. It is quite logical that you are going to lose weight. You take in fewer calories and so you lose weight. This has nothing to do with the "magic" effect of the diet. It is simply because you eat less.
If you want to be healthy, you have to get enough of all the nutrients that are available (logical). However, as mentioned, a diet is a ration and the daily portion of products is drastically reduced or even deleted. As a result, you get too little and your health can be at risk. You lose weight, but your body is not working optimally.
Whether a dietary pattern works permanently depends on whether it is practical and therefore feasible. It must fit in with our world and with our Western lifestyle, with you personally and, for example, with your family situation. Is the diet you choose feasible should be an important question.
Exactly, that is not feasible.
It is quite feasible to follow a certain diet for a short period of time. But you always see, logically too, that at some point that simply no longer works. You don't feel like always cutting out products or eating differently from the rest. Because it is not practical, it is not sustainable.
