Which medicines are useful to have at home? A good time to check your medicine cabinet.
According to Synovate, 49 percent of the Dutch have medicines that have expired. When was the last time you looked in your medicine cabinet? Chances are you'll come across expired pills and a crystallized cough syrup. Get rid of it.
The following medicines may come in handy in your medicine cabinet:
1. Painkillers Paracetamol (general pain reliever) and ibuprofen or naproxen (suitable for pain with inflammation and severe menstrual pain and migraine) are analgesic and fever-reducing. If you have small children, it is useful to have a flavored liquid children's paracetamol or chewable tablets at home.
2. Sore throat tablets
Is your throat a weak spot and do you often suffer from it? Then you can keep lozenges or Trachitol in your medicine cabinet.
3. Something for stomach and intestinal complaints If you often have stomach problems, antacids are useful to have at home. Diarrhea inhibitors can also come in handy, especially if you like to travel.
4. Thermometer
To measure fever.
5. Plasters and bandages
An accident is in a small corner. You usually need the first aid kit or first aid kit more often than other medication. Make sure to refill it occasionally so that you have gauze, plasters, bandages, scissors, tweezers, tape and iodine on hand in case of an emergency.
6. Antibacterial ointment
Betadine, udder ointment or Mesitran wound ointment are good options. They disinfect wounds, sores and fissures. Apply a small amount of ointment to the sore spot.
7. Supplement with your personal necessities
Everyone has a complaint that often comes back. If you regularly suffer from cold sores, make sure to use a good cold sore cream. Perhaps a fatty cream against eczema, nasal spray, menthol powder or a cough drink would be more useful.
