Our eye fell on the headline above. Is living in a green neighborhood less good than we thought?
That is probably not so bad, but according to a new British directive, municipalities must be more careful where they place trees. Leaves and branches can slow down airflow, causing pollutants, such as exhaust fumes, to linger longer. That partly negates the healthy effect of trees and that is a shame. The advice should not be interpreted by municipalities as advice to cut trees, but municipalities must be aware of the placement of trees and of the fact that trees need maintenance.
