This is the 'editorial scum' of Santé, who doesn't wash her teacup very often in the editorial office. Recognizable? Then this message will probably make you happy.
It doesn't seem to be that bad if you don't wash your mug or cup often. There are two conditions:
1. Do not leave a layer of coffee, tea or foam in the cup (mold danger!)
2. Do not share your cup with anyone else.
You'll find bacteria in the average mug used, but most of them are just from the one who drank from the mug. You won't get sick easily:after all, all bacteria are yours and they don't survive long outside your body. In some workplaces, not washing your cup will even be cleaner than using the common dishwashing brush or sponge, as those are two breeding grounds for bacteria.
Decide for yourself what to do with this information. In any case, I would like to thank Science of Us for their article 'It's okay to never wash your coffee mug'.
