Women who have a child after the age of 25 often live longer than women who become mothers at a young age.
The study was conducted by the University of San Diego. There is no clear explanation as to why women who become mothers at an older age are more likely to grow old.
In a previous study, it was thought that it may have to do with the fact that women who have children later often do so in connection with study and work. They earn more and therefore have more access to health care. At least in America. In the Netherlands, that influence will probably be somewhat smaller.
