Do you live in one of the big cities? Then there is a greater chance that you will become lonely or overweight.

According to a study by GGD Haaglanden, in 2020 even half of the inhabitants of The Hague will be lonely and overweight. The number of residents with an increased risk of anxiety, depression, diabetes or a heart attack will also increase.
How is that possible?
The increase is partly due to the aging population, but also due to the growth of non-Western residents. For example, diabetes is two to four times more common among Hindus, Turks and Moroccans. The trend can also be seen in the other major cities; Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht.
