Do your children like to play with fountains when it is warm? It's wonderfully refreshing, but maybe not so sensible. The risk of children getting sick from the water in a fountain is relatively high.
Many sick children
Utrecht University discovered that an average of 1 in 25 children gets sick after playing in a fountain. On very hot days, that number rises to one in three children.
Contaminated fountain water
Many fountains that come from the street use rainwater, which is usually not clean. For example, the water may be polluted by dog or bird droppings.
