You can get a tick bite not only in the forest, also in city parks or just in your own backyard. Ticks can transmit Lyme disease. It is best to remove a tick within 24 hours, but how do you do that?
- Use pointed tweezers or special drawing tweezers.
- Grab the tick as close to the skin as possible and twist it out.
- Do not flatten the tick. Remaining pieces of tick will disappear from the wound by themselves.
- Disinfect the wound with seventy percent alcohol, iodine tincture or ointment.
- Record the date of the bite. Watch for symptoms of disease for up to three months after this.
