Did you know that honey is an excellent rehydrating shampoo ?
I myself had a hard time believing it! But today, this honey shampoo is the only hair care I use!
When I think last year I still had a whole shelf full of hair care!
Shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, (overpriced) serum against dry hair… how on earth can simple honey replace all these products?
Before explaining everything to you, I'll start at the beginning :-)
A year ago, I challenged myself to improve my quality of life:eliminate toxic ingredients from all the products I use every day. The result?
Today, I have the great pleasure to tell you that ALL my body treatments are homemade and WITHOUT toxic products:toothpaste, deodorant, body milk based on coconut oil, face oil and tonic lotion for the face.
Before using this honey-based shampoo, I tried every possible recipe imaginable.
But none of them really suited me:either they irritated my scalp or they dried out my hair.
I've been using this homemade honey shampoo for over 3 months and I can tell you that I can't live without it!
First, since I've been using it, I don't have any more dandruff problems , a persistent and embarrassing problem.
Now my hair is soft and shiny . They have more volume and are even curlier than before.
In addition, my hair is no longer dry or brittle :no need for those anti-dry hair serums that cost an arm and a leg!
Finally, the honey shampoo regulates the production of sebum of my scalp.
Result:I can waitup to 4 days between each shampoo.
- The pH of the scalp varies between 4 and 7. That of honey is around 4. Because it is slightly acidic, honey balances the pH of the scalp and eliminates dandruff .
- Honey is a 100% natural antibacterial and antifungal . Therefore, it can cure scalp infections, whether bacterial or fungal.
- Unlike conventional shampoos that dry out the scalp, honey does not eradicate natural sebum. Consequently, there is no overproduction of sebum by the scalp to compensate for the drying out caused by the chemicals.
- Honey moisturizes the hair. And since it does not eliminate sebum, the hair is supple, silky and frizz-free .
- You can also wait longer and longer between each shampoo, another benefit of regulating the production of natural oils in the scalp.
With this shampoo, I no longer need to wash my hair every day:I wait up to 4 days between each shampoo !
- Washing your hair with honey shampoo is easy and quick !
So ? Are you ready to say goodbye to toxic products and invigorate your scalp? :-)
Here is the recipe for homemade honey shampoo:in addition, there are only 2 ingredients!
For 1 dose shampoo:
- 1 tablespoon of unpasteurized honey.
- 3 tablespoons of mineral water.
- optional:a few drops of essential oil of your choice.
1. Mix the honey and water in a container of your choice such as a glass jar.
If necessary, heat the mixture slightly over low heat to completely dissolve the honey in the water. You will notice that the texture of the shampoo is very runny:don't worry, this is completely normal .
2. If desired, add a few drops of essential oils.
I like to add 2 drops of lavender essential oil and 2 drops of carrot seed essential oil.
Essential oils perfume the mixture and treat dandruff problems. As for the essential oil of carrot seeds, it has a rehydrating effect for the hair.
3. Wet your hair and pour a few spoonfuls of the honey shampoo on it.
4. Massage your entire scalp with the honey shampoo. No need to put it on the tips. Focus mostly on your scalp.
5. Rinse thoroughly. And even here no need for conditioner!
That's it, you know how to make your homemade honey shampoo.
Mixed with water, pure unpasteurized honey can ferment.
Therefore, it is useless to make your homemade honey shampoo in large quantities because the mixture can deteriorate over the days.
The ideal is to make just enough shampoo for a single hair wash.
And as we saw above, it only takes a few minutes to prepare :1 tablespoon of honey and 3 tablespoons of mineral water… and zou! in the shower ! :-)
You see, washing your hair with honey is simple!
Yep, no one likes the term “transition period” — but it wouldn't be fair not to tell you about it.
When you go from a classic "foamy" shampoo (which dries out and eliminates natural sebum) to a honey shampoo, there is a transition period .
Indeed, after the first uses of the honey shampoo, your hair may be oilier and flatter than usual.
It may even take 1 month or 2 so that your scalp's sebum production is self-regulating.
For the transition to take place as quickly as possible, I advise you during the 1st week to wash your hair every day with honey.
Then, the second week, wash your hair every other day. The following week, every 3 days. And so on...
There you go, now you know how to wash your hair WITHOUT toxic products! :-)
Washing your hair with honey is easy, natural and economical, isn't it?
If you don't have honey at home, I recommend this 100% organic unpasteurized honey.
