I've never been a girl who washes her hair every days.
Between shampoo, conditioner, blow-dry and straighten, that's way too much effort for me.
It's not just laziness. It is also because the hair suffers between washing, drying and straightening...
So unless I sweat a lot (which doesn't happen often)...
Most of the time I wash my hair only twice a week.
And between the 2 washes, I use this great homemade dry shampoo to prevent the scalp from becoming oily.
Here is the recipe for the special homemade dry shampoo:
- 30 g of cornstarch also called corn flowers or Maïzena
- 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
- 2 drops of essential oil
- A small container glass or plastic with an airtight lid. For example, you can recycle a jar of jam.
1. Pour 30 g of cornstarch into the container.
2. Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and mix .
Cocoa powder is used to darken cornstarch. If your hair is fair, decrease the dosage. If your hair is very dark, increase the dosage.
3. Add 2 drops of your favorite essential oil. Personally, I love cinnamon with cocoa powder, but peppermint is nice too.
4. Close the container with the lid and stir well so that all the ingredients are well mixed.
5. Apply the magic recipe to the scalp using a dry powder brush. And finally, brush your hair.
There you go, you now know how to make your own homemade dry shampoo :-)
This recipe is particularly suitable for brunettes. And besides, it smells so good!
Of course, you can buy commercial dry shampoo like this for over €5 each!
But this recipe works just as well and costs a lot less!
