The Ministry of the Armed Forces has just launched a call for projects for innovative solutions. The objective is to fight against the current Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic raging in France. The proposed projects do not have to be technological, but can also be organizational or management.
Today, France has 25,000 confirmed cases for more than 1,300 deaths . Obtaining solutions to fight the Covid-19 epidemic is therefore the objective of the call for projects from the Defense Innovation Agency (AID) published on March 23, 2020. It is about a budget 10 million euros to finance projects to be submitted before the deadline:April 12, 2020.
This can be individual or collective protection or innovative concepts of protection, barriers or recycling techniques. Projects may also concern the management of the safety distance between individuals, the automation of tasks for sampling, cleaning of equipment or even the deployment of field hospitals in support of the people. AID is also looking for new decontamination solutions and mass production capabilities of these same solutions. It can also be about detecting the virus in the environment, screening and management of the psychological impact individual and societal.
The ministry also accepts support for medical care through the manufacture of missing equipment. While the shortage of masks is becoming more and more burdensome, the AID has also placed an important note in its appeal. Indeed, the Ministry of the Armed Forces wishes to identify solutions to increase the availability of masks protection against the coronavirus.
The Ministry of the Armed Forces wants to obtain applicable solutions as soon as possible. In other words, he is looking for successful projects and not maturing innovations. Indeed, the urgency of the situation does not allow considering projects whose development is not finished.
Candidates must compile a file of around thirty pages maximum. This will contain the technical description of the solution proposed as well as the use case. In addition, the project plan must contain the development and commissioning schedule as well as a breakdown of the price of the proposal.
Three criteria will evaluate each project:
– Impact:the anticipated benefits for the population, decision-making cycles, healthcare personnel, etc.
– Credibility:any element of scientific or technical evidence to confirm the feasibility of the project
– Schedule:timeframe for implementing the solution.
