Michigan State University researchers have made a quite remarkable discovery:sex is healthier for older women than it is for older men.
This was discovered in a study that started in 2005. The participants were aged between 57 and 85 years. They completed a questionnaire about their health and lifestyle and did so again five years later.
The researchers are surprised at the outcome. Men who had sex once a week or more often had more cardiovascular disease than men who had less or no sex. The risk increases the more a man enjoys sex.
For women, sex does not increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. A quality sex life actually has a positive effect on health.
