Do you ever go to the gym? Chances are you're doing this to look good...
Research
This is apparent from a survey by wellness company Technogym among more than 38,000 European athletes. The company studied European sports cultures with the Aspiration Finder:an application developed in collaboration with the UILM University of Milan, which traces the motivations of athletes based on personal characteristics and lifestyles.
Men and women
The conclusion? Women mainly exercise to burn calories and to work on a good figure. Men, on the other hand, often have the main goal of developing muscle strength and stability. And as men get older, they attach less importance to their appearance and to athletic performance. Staying healthy and relaxed are experienced as increasingly important. But not for women. They stay motivated because they want to look good. At least, the Dutch women. In other countries, women appear to find sports less important at a later age. We are all doing well together!
