That s why it s important to become a donor

Wouter Duinisveld was a healthy and sporty boy. Until a viral myocaditis completely destroys his heart.

Unexpectedly in mortal danger
His future hangs by a thread. After a year on the brink of death, he gets a donor heart and with it a second chance at life.

Sports at a high level
In July 2014, Wouter pursued his biggest dream:to participate in the Ironman Frankfurt (3.8 km swim, 180 km bike and 42.2 km run). A world achievement for healthy professional athletes, let alone for an amateur athlete with a donor heart. After the transplant, Wouter could not have dreamed that he would be able to play sports at a high level again.

For doubters
In his book Another person's heartbeat, from transplant to triathlon, Wouter tells his moving and inspiring story. A wake-up call for anyone who still doubts whether he or she wants to become an organ donor. The book that Wouter wrote with author Marcia Jansen is for sale via Bol.com for €16.95.
