Currently, companies specializing in cleaning crime scenes are not experiencing the crisis. Indeed, these are widely requested by companies to disinfect their premises as part of the fight against Covid-19. In fact, companies in the sector are experiencing strong growth and are even hiring staff.
It is not uncommon to observe workers in full coveralls in the media spraying disinfectants in the street, transport, or even outside but also inside buildings. Sometimes it can even be a question of the deployment of drones like in Dubai during the night. We should also mention the development of a robot disinfector by the French company Shark Robotics. The objective is to remove all traces of Covid-19 .
Remember that in normal times, disinfecting a room from top to bottom is rather rare. Indeed, this need is generally felt when it comes to cleaning up a scene of violent death . In an article published on May 12, 2020, the Wall Street Journal evokes these companies specializing in the cleaning of crime scenes. According to the daily, companies in this sector are currently extremely busy. And for good reason, in the United States, recently, many activities can restart and, naturally, we are witnessing an explosion in demand for disinfection of premises.
The American daily mentions one of these companies:Aftermath Services, which has several dozen branches in the United States. However, this company estimates that it has already fulfilled no less than 500 orders of disinfection related to Covid-19, and this in just a few days. Aftermath Services already had the equipment and products needed to perform these tasks. However, an element that had never been used before has reappeared. This is a special virus procedure manual , written in 2014 during the Ebola epidemic.
So business is good for Aftermath Services! Indeed, each service is billed around $1,000, depending on the size and configuration of the surface to be treated. But the Wall Street Journal also mentions another similar company, Spaulding Decon. The latter hired staff and thus increased its workforce by 75%. Prior to Covid-19, virus decontamination accounted for only 5% of Spaulding Decon's business. Today, this share is 90%!
