Who does what in healthcare? Verwijskompas.nl, a collection of information from more than 4,500 Dutch healthcare providers, has been made public for consumers.
The website includes general practitioners, special outpatient clinics, special treatments in hospitals, physiotherapists, psychologists and dietitians. It is not so much about ratings but about substantive descriptions of how someone is doing in an institution, who does what and what the procedures are.
A few years ago, GPs started the website based on the need to make the forest of healthcare institutions more transparent. This until recently closed 'for and by professionals' site has now been in existence for about three years and mainly contains data from the West of the Netherlands.
