I am just a Sunday gardener...
But here's how I manage to get a small vegetable garden very easily, without paying anything.
Just from the seeds and stumps harvested in my kitchen!
Every year, in the spring, I collect the seeds and stumps of my vegetables.
I take them just before cooking them.
Then I plant them to get fruit and vegetables myself. Watch:
- I collect tomato seeds, varying the sorts (cherry tomatoes, beef hearts...).
But I also take seeds of pepper, melon and also beans.
- I plant them in pots with potting soil.
- I first bought my parsley and basil seeds and grew them by planting them in the ground. It works!
So I don't miss never aromatic herbs that I freeze as I go.
- As for the mint, I picked it from friends and planted it at home. I realized that mint grows like a weed!
I have a full pot of it, obtained from a small branch put in the ground.
The strains of lettuce, endives, cabbage and onions are collected at the time of washing.
They are known to give a new specimen quickly. I couldn't miss this!
- When I cook, instead of throwing my stumps in the trash, I put them in a pot with soil.

It's been 3 weeks since I planted a stump of lettuce in the ground. And several new little salads are already appearing.
It seems that a lettuce grows in 6 weeks, I'll see if I'm on time.

Free seeds are good. But if you have to invest in equipment, it doesn't suit me anymore! That's why I use the D system.
- I use egg boxes (cardboard) for seedlings.

- When the plants have grown (about 10 cm) I transfer them to recycled or DIY pots.
I can thus personalize tin cans. A plastic-lined wine crate or pallet will also make a lovely planter. I can also make pots or suspensions with cinder blocks, books or old bottles.
To water with my dishwater, I only use a drop of dishwashing liquid. It is collected in a basin. Just like the rinsing water from vegetables when I cook,
My plants cost me almost nothing, apart from the soil. I take care to enrich it with my peelings and coffee grounds.

I also use black soap against parasites. Simply spray it directly on plants infested with scale insects or aphids. It's quite effective.
And the food residues make a great fertilizer!
No watering can? An old detergent can will do!
