Here is an easy and gentle trick to clean your darling baby's navel .
Babies are born with a piece of umbilical cord . They will keep it for about 3 weeks and then it will fall off on its own.
This cord looks a bit unsettling at first. Don't worry, it's the same for everyone.
And of course, you will have to take care of this little cord and clean it well.
For that, nothing could be simpler:during the toilet, take a compress or a cotton swab , soak it in lukewarm water and pass it gently around the navel.
Attention, it is necessary to clean well at the bottom and at the top of the cord. Do not hesitate to push the cord a little to clean the inside of the navel , baby won't feel anything.
Quite effective products also exist for the maintenance of the navel. Eosin is one of the best, it allows to dry out the cord for him to fall.
But beware, this product is red and quite staining. Do not hesitate to put a compress on the navel just after application, it will absorb the excess and prevent the baby's belly from being red. It washes off, don't worry!
Once the navel is clean, all you have to do is dry it well and you're done. Do the same when baby gets out of the bath.
And remember, the cord should be cleaned at least once a day.
If you see anything abnormal (redness, oozing) go to your doctor or pediatrician, you never know.
