It's been almost 4 years since I discovered how to make my clean baby wipes.
The big advantage is that I can also use them as make-up remover wipes!
Considering the number of wipes you need to use to clean your baby, you'll save a lot of money!
In addition, you certainly have everything you need at home to make these wipes.

These wipes will also save you a trip to the supermarket.
Not to mention you know exactly what ingredients you put in it!
It's still important, because you'll be applying these wipes to your skin and baby's!
Many parents do not know this...
But many commercial cleaning wipes contain phenoxyethanol, a chemical not recommended by health authorities!
Even if you buy wipes suitable for sensitive skin or made with natural products...
Be aware that some of their ingredients may irritate your skin.
But with this homemade recipe, I'm proud to tell you that I can pronounce ALL the names of the ingredients :-)
In 4 years, the number of times my 3 children have had a rash can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
And I'm sure those homemade wipes have something to do with it!
I can tell you that I tested a lot of different recipes and ingredients.
But today, I reveal to you the one that works best . Watch:
- 2 food boxes
- 1 paper towel roll
- 1 liter of demineralised or purified water
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
To make your own baby wipes:
- a few drops of organic baby soap-free gel or organic cleansing gel
To make the make-up remover wipes yourself:
- a few drops of organic cleansing water or organic cleansing gel
To make these baby wipes, I used the 2 plastic boxes in the photo above.
Both are good. But I prefer the one on the right because I can easily open it with one hand, thanks to its 4-click closure system.
For me, the most effective brand of paper towel is the Sopalin "Sur Mesure".
Paper pieces are pre-cut into half sheets, helping to not spend too many wipes for nothing .
Plus, unlike most other brands, these paper towels don't have that annoying tendency to tear.
True, quality paper towels cost a little more.
But if you only use them to make your homemade wipes, they only cost you €1.50 per box.
It's much cheaper than commercial wipes!
Using a large sharp, toothless knife, cut the paper towel roll in half.
Take care to remove small fluff of paper at the ends of each half.
If you don't have a sharp knife, you can use a serrated knife (like a bread knife).
The concern is that this type of knife produces more lint. a
So, don't forget to clean the Sopalin well after cutting.
For each box of wipes, you need 50 cl of demineralised water or purified water.
Once the water has been added to the box, use a permanent marker to make a line that indicates the water level.
Next time you will waste less time measuring the amount of water needed.
If you are preparing 2 canisters of wipes at a time, I recommend preparing your mixture in a large glass measuring bowl.
The temperature for coconut oil to be liquid is 25°C ...
This means that it remains in a solid state below this temperature (much like dietary fat).
To melt the coconut oil, put the desired amount in a saucepan and add a little water.
Then, heat everything over low heat, until the coconut oil melts (at 25°C, it will melt quickly).
Once melted, add the coconut oil to the deionized water and stir.
Because this natural oil is antibacterial , antimicrobial and also antifungal .
In addition, it also has powerful moisturizing properties to have soft skin.
Finally, let's not forget that coconut oil smells great!
I have used coconut oil instead of skin creams or lotions for a long time. I promise you that its effectiveness is stu-pe-fiant!

Add a single dose of baby soap-free gel to the mixture, using the pump on the bottle, then gently stir the mixture.
A single dose does not seem sufficient to you?
Remember that when using wipes, you are not rinsing the skin afterwards as you would after a shower.
So if you add too much gel, your wipes will leave residue on the skin.
I highly recommend that you use a soap-free baby gel suitable for sensitive skin and 100% organic like this.
Be careful which brand you choose.
Indeed, most soap-free gels are full of chemical substances.
These are substances that can be harmful to baby's soft skin!
With only 1 dose of cleansing gel per box of homemade wipes, you not only save money...
But above all, you protect your skin and that of your baby from a rash.
So, on closer inspection, it makes sense to invest in a quality soap-free gel.
Maybe your boxes are wider than mine. But if not, don't panic!
Even if my boxes look too small, I promise you it won't be a problem and the result will be perfect;-)
You see ? I told you:the box closes nickel chrome!
Put your boxes upside down (you can stack them like in the photo above).
And let the Sopalin soak up the mixture , for about 5 min.
After 5 min, put the boxes right side up and open them (you see, the Sopalin has remained compact!).
Then remove the cardboard roll in the middle of each Sopalin.
Do not attempt to remove the cardboard rolls BEFORE this step!
Wait until the Sopalin is very wet, it avoids getting it everywhere...
And There you go ! Your homemade baby cleansing wipes are already ready to use :-)
Simple and cheap, right?
You now know how to homemade baby wipes , without breaking the bank.
To use your first cleaning wipe, simply pull the Sopalin in the center of the roll. Super easy, right?
- before you start making the homemade wipes yourself, make sure to clean your work surface well to avoid having crumbs in the wipes.
- put a few cleaning wipes in a Ziploc type freezer bag:and voila, you can use them on the go !
- FYI, with us, 2 boxes of baby cleansing wipes have a duration of 1 to 2 weeks .
- use only demineralised or purified water , to avoid any mold problems of the wipes. If you use purified water and quality ingredients, you won't have any problems!
- keep your homemade wipes out of the sun and avoid preparing more than necessary.
- even with the purchase of the coconut oil and food boxes, you use each ingredient in such small quantities that you spend no more than €1.50 for 2 whole boxes of baby wipes.
This represents a considerable saving compared to commercial wipes, which sell for between €2.00 and €5 per pack.
And in addition, commercial wipes are consumed more quickly, since they are often much too large.
- thanks to the beneficial properties of coconut oil, you can also use these wipes as moisturizing wipes or make-up remover wipes !
For this, just do not add soap-free gel to the mixture or replace it with your favorite facial cleanser.
- the smart ones will have understood:you can also easily use the same technique and prepare cleaning wipes for cleaning.
To mix, prepare 1 liter of water and add a few drops of a 100% natural cleanser, such as liquid black soap.
